7.25” Dodge/Chrysler Rear Axle
The Chrysler 7.25” axle is also referred to as the AAM 7.25” and features a 7.25” ring gear. The axle housing has a 9 or 10 bolt cover. Differences in the 9 and 10 bolt include variations in case and spider gear assemblies which may not be compatible with each other’s components.

8.25” Dodge/Chrysler Rear Axle
The Chrysler 8.25” is found in a number of configurations and can be found on a variety of Dodge and Jeep vehicles. More recent versions of the axle have larger 29 spline axle shafts whereas previous versions had 27 splines. In some cases, the Chrysler 8.25” axle has metric sized ring gear bolts.

8.75” Dodge/Chrysler Rear Axle
The Chrysler 8.75” was one of the most common axles used in non-compact cars by Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler through 1973. The 8.75” ring gear and 30 spline axle shafts had three styles of axle housing with different pinion shaft diameters. The housings had markings to more easily identify them. The 741 case had a large ‘X’ on the left side, the 742 had a ‘2’ on the left side and the 489 has a ‘9’ on the left side. This axle has a drop-out carrier.

The AAM 9.25 AKA Chrysler 9.25” front axle are found in modern Dodge trucks with a reverse rotation ring gear of 9.25” diameter and 33 spline axle shafts. It differs from the rear 9.25” by spline count and standard rotation gears making them non-interchangeable

The AAM 11.5” was offered as an upgrade to the GM 10.5” 14 bolt which was present in many GM and Dodge full size trucks. It is a 30 spline and standard rotation gears.
