We use Timken bearings and seals at HRA when rebuilding axles. Bearings manufactured by Timken are known as the industry’s benchmark due to their tight tolerances. We also offer a warranty on our rebuilt axles. Due to this, you can trust our axle repairs and rebuilds. The axles and differentials can also be modified by our professionals. Whatever you need – narrowing an axle for a hotrod or customizing a differential for off-roading – we have you covered.
How does an axle repair work?
A repairing axle is a better and cheaper alternative to rebuilding one if the axle is not severely damaged. Both methods differ in how much is involved and how much each component costs. Axle repairs begin by removing the axle’s components. We remove the rotors, ring gears, bearing set, and axle shafts. Additionally, we keep the pinion shaft and bearing installed. Our lathe will then be used to straighten the axle if necessary. Then we clean the housing and inspect the bearings. Afterward, if any spindle end is damaged, it will be removed. We will then install our custom-built replacement spindle ends in their place. The axle is then reassembled, painted, and filled with fluids. The axle is now ready for installation.
What is the process of rebuilding axle assemblies?
Rebuilding an axle begins in the same way as repairing one. To begin, the axle must be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly. After that, high-quality OEM rings and pinions replace the existing set. Afterwards, the bearings are replaced. For our axle rebuilds, HRA always uses Timken bearings and seals. Known for their tight tolerances, they are the benchmark in the bearing industry.
To replace the seals on axle shafts and carriers, we use Timken seals. Our next step is to replace all worn seals. The axle shafts used in rebuilding rear axles are refurbished and thoroughly inspected. If necessary, new axle shafts will also be used. Should the rear axle have the rotors bolted on behind the hub, we will turn or replace the rotors. It also allows new pads to be properly installed. Then, as in the repair process, we assemble, paint, and fill the axle with fluids.
