This service allows us to also pick up from your home and mechanic of choice. For any city in the continental United States, we are able to offer this service.
Our warranty provides coverage of our axle rebuilds. We also use Timken bearings and seals in our axle rebuilds and repairs. In the bearing industry, Timken is known as the industry standard. They were also trusted with their bearings in the James Webb Telescope that was launched in December 2021. As a result, you can trust our axle rebuilds and repairs. As mentioned before we can also modify axles and differentials. This could be narrowing an axle for use in a hot rod or modifying a differential to use when off-roading. Let us know how we can help.
What is involved in our Axle Rebuilds and Repairs?
We will first check how damaged the axle is. The damage to the axle will then allow us to determine if the axle needs to be rebuilt or if the axle can be repaired. If the axle can be repaired then it will be less expensive. This is because less work will need to be done to the axle and fewer parts will need to be replaced. Both processes, rebuilding and also repairing, share some steps.
To properly assess the axle, we remove all of the components on the axle and then clean them. Cleaning the components then means we can see how damaged they are and if they need to be replaced or repaired. Our experts will then take the axle to our lathe and shape it back to factory specifications. Any damaged spindle ends are then cut off. We replace those spindle ends with spindle ends we make in-house. Following that, the axle is painted, assembled and filled with fluids.
For axle rebuilds, we begin by replacing the ring and pinion. The replacement ring and pinion we use is a high-quality ring and pinion provided by a trusted OEM supplier. We then inspect the axle carrier and replace the seals on it with seals from Timken. The axle shaft is then replaced by a refurbished axle shaft done by our professionals. These axle shafts have been inspected to be restored to factory specifications. If needed we will use a new axle shaft. Then for rotors bolted behind the hub, we will turn or replace them to make sure a brake pad can be applied properly.
What you may feel if you have a damaged axle
Should your axle become damaged, the damage could have come from any number of sources. Maybe you drove over a pothole that was deeper than expected. Or you bumped into a curb or even gotten into an accident. No matter how it has happened there is a good chance you will experience one or many of the following symptoms. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, take your vehicle to a mechanic and have your axle inspected.
- Noise – As the gears come out of alignment as the result of a dent or bend in the axle, you will hear a grinding noise.
- Leaks – A damaged axle can cause dents and cracks that lead to leaks. As a result, the lubricant may leak from the axle, causing the axle to not be properly lubricated.
- Vibrations – Axle damage causes your vehicle to vibrate, which you will feel as you drive. The vibration will be more intense while turning the steering wheel as well.
