What we do in our Axle Rebuilds and Repairs

Our first step in the rebuild and repair process is to examine the damage on the axle. An axle will need to be repaired or rebuilt depending on how damaged the axles are. An axle will need to be rebuilt if the damage to the axle is extensive. But, if the damage isn’t too much, then the axle will only need to be repaired. Repairing an axle replaces fewer components but it is also a cheaper process. Both processes share some steps.

The first step is to disassemble the axle and clean all of the parts. This allows us to examine all of the parts of the axle and determine if they need to be replaced or repaired as needed. We then put the axle on our lathe, which allows us to shape the axle as determined by the factory specifications. Then we remove any damaged spindle ends so we can replace them with our built in-house spindle ends. We then paint, assemble and then fill the axle with fluids.

For the axle rebuild process, more steps are involved. This includes replacing the ring and pinion with a high-quality OEM replacement ring and pinion. We then check the seals on the axle carriers and replace them with high-quality Timken replacement seals. For the damaged axle shaft, we will replace the axle shaft with a refurbished axle shaft. The refurbished axle shaft has also been restored back to factory specifications by our experts and has been thoroughly tested. We may use a new axle shaft if needed. The rotors on the axle will then be rotated or replaced if the rotor is bolted behind the hub so that brake pads can be applied properly.
